Guinea pigs come in many different breeds. Each one has a distinctive feature that sets it apart from the others.
The most common Guinea Pig is the American short hair.
This guinea pig has soft short hair and comes in many colors.

The largest Guinea Pig is the Cuy.
Cuys are known for their large size, longer faces and short hair like the american breed. A Cuy is often sold and farmed as food in places like Guatemala.

There are four longer hair guinea pigs.
A Peruvian: They have long straight hair flowing to their feet.
A Texel: They have long curly or very wavy hair.
A Sheltie or Silkie: They have long hair often slicked back in a curve framing their head.
An Abyssinian: They have log tufts of soft hair.
